What is more useful for your health and our environment than cycling and more innovative than electric-powered bikes? Following this concept, E-bikes4you launched their ecommerce website in 2011. The idea of the online store was born when Hans Peter Gratt, E-bikes4you owner, imported his first BIONX Retrofit from Canada. With his team of six, a few years later he created an online store with the best products on the e-bike market. City e-bikes, e-mountain bikes and e-cargo bikes are available from various manufacturers such as Focus, Trek, Diamant and Kalkhoff. All offer e-bikes and accessories that have been tested by the team to provide customers with top-class products and useful advice on how to choose the right bicycle. The company also owns two brick-and-mortar stores in Kufstein, Austria and Kiefersfelden, Germany.

Magento Audit

Our partnership with E-bikes4you started when the company was looking for a reliable and experienced ecommerce development team to support and improve their Magento 2 multistore. What was supposed to beсome a profitable online store turned into a problem as the website didn’t perform well. From small bugs to huge issues like an add-to-cart button that didn’t work, we delivered a comprehensive audit to detect all errors we needed to fix to make the E-bikes4you website work and perform like never before. We carefully tested the online store – both on the back and front end – to provide our client with a detailed plan of actions that became the basis for our further cooperation.

Magento Integration

When working on the website improvement, E-bikes4you decided to refresh the online store design with the custom theme previously created for them by a third-party. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet the technical requirement of the website and BelVG development team spent some time making it functional and compatible with the Magento 2 platform. As the new look of the website was aimed to improve the customer shopping experience, we enhanced the usability of the online store by utilizing several new integrations. Thus, we improved the product page by adding and customizing an online sizing widget. Every customer now has an opportunity to adjust the perfect bicycle size after entering the height and length of legs and arms. We also complemented pages with a 360 view option to display E-bikes4you products in the best possible way. To provide customers with a possibility to compare products with no difficulties, we inbuilt Google Shopping Feed. Special attention was paid to payment methods. Except for offsite payments (PayPal and Amazon Pay), we integrated several onsite methods such as payment by card, bank transfer and paying in cash at the store. All the integrations we’ve managed helped our client to increase conversions and boost sales.

Custom Magento Development

When you are working to provide customers with the best service, custom development is what you need. Together with E-bikes4you, we enriched the default Magento functionality and delivered a website with unique features. As our client believes that everyone deserves a good bike, they wanted to offer a lease for some of their products with prices over a certain amount. We transformed the idea into a website feature. After passing a small survey, customers could submit an application for payment instalment right from the website. A lot of time was spent to develop custom one-step checkout. This process itself is complex, and it’s crucial to think about it at the beginning of website development. When customizing the checkout process for E-bikes4you, we were working on creating an opportunity to place guest orders, make express payments via PayPal and Amazon Pay and choose between “click and collect”, and other shipping options. As it was already mentioned, E-bikes4you is a multistore operating in several countries. We took this into account while customizing taxes. Based on the customer address, a different VAT rate is calculated. Such an improvement streamlined the website management process significantly.
